I started my 2 months backpacking trip by visiting Boracay, the Philippines party island that got a make-over and reopened its doors to tourists in 2019. I was surprised to still see the ravages of the 2004 tsunami on most sea-side infrastructures. Although some buildings have been repaired, many still have a portion of their home exposed.
One of Boracay’s biggest attraction is the kitesurf, most people I met come and call this island home for a few weeks just to learn to kitesurf. I have to say I was quite tempted, but my time there was too short to begin a course.
Although Boracay remains quite touristy we were able to find a pristine white sandy beach at the very tip of the island called Pukka beach. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my camera along so you will have to just take my word for it. Besides the beaches, sunsets here are quite glorious.
